Orbis reads vehicle data over manufacturer-authorised APIs through High Mobility's Auto API, which covers 30 brands and over 500 models. What that means is nothing gets fitted, and newer cars from participating brands connect as they are.

Data is accessed over manufacturer-authorised APIs, under High Mobility's agreements with each OEM. Orbis IO is not an OEM partner. How often does Orbis check a driver's DVLA licence?
Every driver gets an annual DVLA check on Essentials. On Intelligence, checks move to a risk-graded schedule: annually as standard, every six months at four to six penalty points, and every three months at seven or more.
Does a driver have to consent to a DVLA check?
Yes. Orbis requests explicit consent before any search, with a GDPR notice explaining the purpose of the search and the driver's rights, including the right to be forgotten.
Who approves a check before it runs?
Either the driver or a nominated administrator, depending on how your organisation is configured. Driver confirmation suits fleets that want minimal admin overhead; administrator approval suits fleets that need a compliance sign-off in the audit trail. Both routes are timestamped and logged.
What does Orbis IO cost?
Three tiers, all priced per vehicle per month: Essentials at £6.95, Intelligence at £18 and Enterprise at £25. Essentials includes an annual DVLA licence check for every driver.
Does Orbis need hardware or a dongle fitted?
No. Orbis reads data over manufacturer-authorised APIs, using the connection already built into the vehicle and streamed over the air. There is no OBD dongle, no aftermarket hardware, no installer visit and no driver app to install. Drivers confirm checks by email.
