Perx Motor by Covase

Perx Motor: electric car salary sacrifice for your team

Employees get a new or pre-loved electric car for a fixed monthly amount from gross pay. Lex Autolease and Ogilvie Fleet fund the cars, Covase arranges and runs the scheme, and every car is managed on Orbis IO.

What you get

From first call to launch.

  1. 15-minute call. We walk through your headcount, current benefits stack, and any existing salary-sacrifice provider.
  2. Costed plan. We model likely take-up and the NI saving at your headcount, and send it as a one-page plan.
  3. Launch. Payroll integration and the employee portal are live in about 48 hours of go-ahead. Car delivery times vary by manufacturer, and can be as little as two weeks.

What the employer gets

No employer cost

No setup fee, no per-employee licence, no committed budget on the employer side.

Around £774 a year per employee

Employer National Insurance saved on each car. Our published car-only illustration, per participating employee.

Runs alongside your existing provider

Already running a car scheme with another provider? The two coexist on one payslip, and employees can take one, the other, or both.

New or pre-loved

A pre-loved car usually costs less to lease than the same model new, so the monthly sacrifice is lower. The saving comes from the lease, not the tax (see the questions below).

Pre-loved · Jeep Avenger Electric Summit, 2024
£408.13 /month gross
Employer NI saving: £61.22 a month

Registered November 2024 with 9,786 miles. 36 months at 10,000 miles a year, for an employee on £40,000 in England.

Live quote, October 2026, for one car in stock, so subject to availability and change. The sacrifice covers the £352.80 lease rental, 50% of the VAT on it and the employer's National Insurance on the benefit (Class 1A). Company car tax is £26.73 a month, 4% of the car's £40,094.01 list price when first registered. Your salary and tax band, the term and the mileage all move the outcome.

Terms from two to five years

Company car tax on electric cars is set to rise each year to 2029/30, and rates after that have not been announced. Terms from two to five years let employees match the agreement to the rates already known. For the rates year by year, read the four-year BiK cliff.

Questions about Perx Motor

Can we run Perx Motor alongside an existing EV salary-sacrifice provider?

Yes. If you already have a company-car scheme running with another provider, you do not have to unpick it to start Perx Motor. The two coexist on a single payslip, and employees can take one, the other, or both. Where an existing arrangement is mid-contract, the practical route is usually to run Perx Motor alongside it and let employees move across at their own renewal, rather than breaking agreements early. Employers already committed elsewhere on the car often start with Perx Energy, the home-energy side of Perx, which does not depend on who supplies the car.

Does a pre-loved car pay less company car tax?

Barely. The P11D value is fixed at the list price when the car was first registered, for second-hand cars as for new ones (HMRC guide 480, chapter 12), so a pre-loved car is cheaper to tax only by whatever the manufacturer has added to the list price since. The saving comes from the lease, not the tax.

Who owns the car?

Perx Motor cars are leased, so the leasing company owns them for the whole term: Lex Autolease or Ogilvie Fleet. Neither the employer nor the employee owns the car. At the end of the term the car goes back to the leasing company, and the employee either takes a new car on a fresh agreement or simply ends the arrangement. There is no obligation to buy or to renew.

Headcount, payroll integration, leavers and the employer's cost are answered in the Perx operator questions.
