How to run a DVLA licence check in Orbis

From the driver list to an emailed result in under a minute. Press play for the 48-second narrated walkthrough, or pick a step to jump straight to it.

The drivers, organisation and licence details in the walkthrough are illustrative, not real records.

The steps

  1. Open Driver Records. Every driver is listed with their licence status and next scheduled check. Essentials checks each driver once a year. On Intelligence, Orbis sets each driver's frequency from their points: annually at three or fewer, every six months at four to six, and quarterly at seven or more.
  2. Find the driver and click View. Filter by organisation or search by name, then open the driver's record.
  3. Confirm consent, then click DVLA Lookup. Consent should show as Provided. If it does not, use Send consent request first: Orbis runs a check only once the driver's consent is on file.
  4. Confirm the licence number. The number on file is filled in for you. Click OK and Orbis checks the DVLA record live.
  5. Read the result. Endorsements, licence status, entitlements and a risk assessment, back in seconds and kept on the driver's record.
  6. Email the results. Send the result to the driver or their manager in one click. The address on file is filled in for you.
